A fisherman has died after being mauled by a shark on the Great Barrier Reef, the second fatal attack in Australia in the past fortnight.

The victim of a horror shark attack in Far North Queensland has been identified as Cairns father Michael Jensz.

"The man had been spearfishing when he was attacked and died from a critical head injury," Burns told reporters.
